Just finished watching the 2001 Royal Rumble Match due to boredom.

It's mad that Billy Gunn made it to the final four.

Evil Vito 02-16-2018 03:42 PM

That actually used to be a somewhat common Rumble trope with someone unexpected getting to the final four...D'Lo Brown in 1999, X-Pac in 2000, Mr. Perfect in 2002

It's pretty well "died out" in recent years, though

Cool King 02-16-2018 04:05 PM

I think the last time that happened was when Santino made it to the last two in 2011.

They should do stuff like that more often.

Emperor Smeat 02-16-2018 04:08 PM

Apparently the rumors of the Iconic Duo getting boob jobs as the reason for their sudden disappearance from NXT was true. Even Triple H implied that was the case when he recently mentioned they were in the last stage of their NXT development and needed some final "reps" done before getting promoted.

This really sucks. Lufisto was basically the godmother of women's independent wrestling. It's a shame she never got her showcase on a bigger platform. I really pulling for her.

For someone with alleged money problems, Cena sure does love to keep wasting a lot of money on cars.

https://i.imgur.com/tAkrxQQ.png

For some perspective, he's currently being sued by Ford and claimed he only sold the sponsored car without permission because he needed money for some "bills."

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-16-2018 08:07 PM

It's weird... he doesn't seem like a dummy... figured he'd be better with his flow.

Emperor Smeat 02-16-2018 08:15 PM

How much do those cars typically cost?

Doubt Nikki makes enough on her own to simply splurge on an exotic car like that as a gift without taking a huge hit financially. Even if they split the costs, feel like its still would be a big hit for finances.

Shadrick 02-17-2018 12:45 AM

yeah im definitely not about to speculate on another persons finances, especially when im just shown a picture of a car he "woke up to"

Read it again. "Woke up in" it says. Which is baffling really.

Taker and HBK are probably my two all-time favorites and I'm pretty confident I have nothing in common with their political beliefs...it has absolutely nothing to do with them being great wrestlers in their prime.

No one should care about what political/religious beliefs any wrestlers have. RE: posts about Taker/politics

Unless you give a shit about other human beings and don't want to support someone with shitty beliefs that hurts them. I dunno.

Mr. Nerfect 02-17-2018 03:10 AM

Not sure how reliable the information is, but Cornette did a bit about NXT's ticket sales versus expenditure on his show this week. Cornette doesn't usually bullshit, but it's possible the information is just wrong, because NXT sounds like it is running at a shocking deficit. Something like $8 million in ticket sales versus $25 million in expenditure. It just seems...too much.

Emperor Smeat 02-17-2018 03:33 AM

That seems very possible considering Triple H has been on record before about the Performance Center and NXT being money losing departments. His justification was WWE needed to revamp its entire developmental system and those losses being cheap when looking at the bigger picture of WWE's future.

They do lose more money touring compared to RAW and Smackdown brands but as a counter, their tv shows are way cheaper to produce since a bulk of their staff doesn't need to be paid because Full Sail supplies them.

Bad News Gertner 02-17-2018 07:56 AM

I've mentioned this show on Viceland called "The Wrestlers" before. This week they did a show on the DDT promotion from Japan.

Fucking awesome show.

This. I think its easy to say "You shouldn't care about someone elses politics" if those politics don't directly affect you.

This is a self righteous approach to life I can't abide by. Who's to say you have all the answers? I know I don't. Some people genuinely believe Trump is out to make America great again (they're wrong), but wtf is the point in judging them for it? It just contributes further in dividing us. Sure, if they're enforcing their politics on you, debate them... but there's no use in disliking people over politics.

I'm not really a "car person" but that is a really ugly car.

There's a difference between "judging" someone, "disliking" their stance, and "disliking" them as a person.

You may wholeheartedly disagree, but there are times where someone's political views and stances say a lot about who they are as a person. If someone, for example, believes and supports traffic ticket quotas, even if the traffic stops are unjust, and higher fines in lower income black neighborhoods, that's their right. Do I judge them? No. Do I dislike that stance? Yes. Would the precipice of that stance make me dislike them as a person? Yes. Because the concept of that stance is absolutely fucked up. And if you believe in that stance, that very much affects me, or other people who share my skin color, yes, I'm going to dislike you because of that.

Simple Fan 02-17-2018 12:15 PM

Yeah, to hell with traffic ticket quotas and anyone who supports them.

It's been my experience that people will reveal themselves as assholes before their politics do. You'd probably found someone who supports such a thing will have revealed themselves as someone you don't like before you find that out about them.

In dollars, around 1.7 million. For a fucking car.

My experience has actually been the opposite on several occasions. One example of many, I had a particular friend of mine that was white and we had been friends for many years. Just a kind person. Honorable. Trustworthy. Then Obama ran in 08, and he began small by saying he didn't like certain policies. Then he didn't like certain things about his plans. A lot of his "arguments" seemed really forced like he was looking for a reason.

And then it was very offputting when he eventually admitted he didn't "want a black guy" in office because it made him uncomfortable because "you know what black people do" as well as "something might end up missing from the white house when he leaves." And he didn't use the term "black guy" either. It took a black guy possibly holding the biggest office in the land for him to show his true colors. Everything was all good when black people were staying in their place. It was hurtful. As many times as I've told him I'd been unjustly pulled over and harassed, as many times as I've told him I've been called the n-word, as many times as I told him how painful it was dealing with racial bias and prejudice, to hear him flippantly say those things fucked me up really bad. Yeah, I lost a friend over that.

So. Yeah. True colors come out in different ways. But if your experiences have been different, that's cool.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-17-2018 03:46 PM

dunno. those aren't politics as much as that is just being racist.

you said your experiences showed you that people will typically show you they're assholes before their politics do. my example was the inverse; his politics inadvertently brought out his assholeness and racism.

but yeah, someones politics can cause me to dislike them. theres a point where you agree/disgaree on something, then theres a point where it takes a sharp turn and it ventures off into a whole other thing. if someone takes an issue with me kneeling for the anthem in order to protest the unjust murder of unarmed people of color on camera while the police officer who blatantly abused his power gets paid administrative leave, thats fine. Not liking it is completely okay. Being uncomfortable with it is also completely okay. But to make an attempt to force me to stand is fundamentally unAmerican especially when afterwards you try to hijack the narrative and make it about the military, the anthem itself, etc.

I don't expect Undertaker to kneel for the anthem. I don't expect him to understand my plight or to feel what I've gone through in my life. The issue isn't real to him because he's a white man in America with white children. I don't harbor ill-will towards him. America has been great to him, why would he care about the issue? His post wasn't even "EVERYONE BETTER STAND" it was "I stand for the Anthem" but of course he does. He has no reason not to. And I don't condemn him for that. It's his right.

I'm not really gonna talk anymore on the subject, and it has nothing to do with you at all, I just dont like talking about this on TPWW because I don't know who I'm talking to, what age, what level of education, are they trolling, etc. I'm here for the rasslin.

Asking for a friend for an after shot of Peyton Royce.

thecc 02-17-2018 11:53 PM

So after making a big stink about never booking Mike Elgin, AAW booked him on a show tonight. They didn't even announce him and basically didn't give the fans a chance to decide if they would go to a show he's booked on. I really hate wrestling sometimes.
