Next year will either be Roman vs. Lesnar again or Roman vs. Cena.

Health allowing I think it will be quite a long time before Roman Reigns isn't in the main event of WrestleMania.

Frank Drebin 04-03-2017 12:33 AM

So Sting vs Taker is next year then, right?

rez 04-03-2017 12:34 AM

I take back that APA comment but it was still a horrible Wrestlemania all around. Go frig yourselves. Even the WD season finale was better.

rob11 04-03-2017 12:34 AM

All those smarks who will be in the crowd tomorrow night are probably crying right now and if they show something about Taker tomorrow night you will see them in tears.

Droford 04-03-2017 12:34 AM

Taker clearly has to go in the HOF next year, Id go as far as to announce it tomorrow.

Rumor now is Lesnar vs Reigns for the Universal title although that might need a belt swap if the rumors of Reigns being traded to Smackdown ends up being true.

Would make it 4 Manias in a row Reigns main events and probably safe to assume he's getting booed with or without a heel turn. Maybe even 3rd year in a row Mania's main event ends up being a meh to bad match.

Hey, what you do with water displacing liquid on your time in the privacy of your own home is none of my business.

Watched quite a bit of the show.

Saw about half Styles v Shane. It was good. But I hate that Shane is booked in a way that presents him as a real threat.

Owens v Jericho was good with an unexpected ending. Right guy won.

The Raw women's match was good. Whoever booked it deserves a pat on the back as Nia Ja looked like a star despite losing.

Skipped the tag match, minus seeing the Hardys coming in.

Skipped Rollins v HHH. Just didn't feel interested in it. Can anyone tell if it was good and why or why not?

Lesnar v Goldberg was booked to near perfection. Crowd was red hot for It.

Skipped Smackdown women's match. Seemed short.

And as I stated, Taker v Reigns was about as good as it could have been and far better than expected, which, imo, just cements how good Undertaker is. Old and broken down and still can pull a solid showing out of his hat.

The post match sendoff was of course wonderful.

Pretty solid show.

Damn right

Damian Rey 2.0 04-03-2017 12:39 AM

Given the current landscape, I'd bet Reigns finally beats Lesnar at Summer Slam and goes on to defend against and beat Cena this time next year

Simple Fan 04-03-2017 12:40 AM

Thought the main event was good and if it's Takers last match it was a good way to go out. Best Lesnar/Goldburg match yet. Orton winning is about the only finish I would have like to seen go the other way but the match was good. Worms and roaches were creepy and I thought they were really setting up Bray for something big but Randy won instead.

Rollins v. HHH was probably worst or second worst. Was like 95% Triple H attacking Seth's injured knee and Seth on the defensive with Seth getting in very little offense and yet winning.

Does that story not make sense and make Rollins look like a tough SOB? His knee is still recovering and he was battling the flu...makes no sense for Rollins to be going on an all-out offensive assault.

RP 04-03-2017 12:48 AM

I was dissapointed with most of it.

Shane vs AJ- Nothing new i havent seen before. Shooting star press would have been slightly cooler if he didnt miss, but i think the only way that match doesnt disinterest me is if Shane does something crazy i havent seen before.

Owens vs Jericho- I thought this was a RAW main even caliber match. Nothing more or less

Battle Royal- I guess they want Mojo to have a push?? It makes sense that Jinder was the final elimination because they wanted to do the Gronk gimmick. You dont have Mojo eliminate Braun and you dont have Braun get shoulder blocked by Gronk. You could have Mojo eliminate Dolph, but he's rather small and ofcourse he would get shoulder blocked like a fly being swatted. Jinder measured up to Gronk and no one gives a shit if Mojo eliminates Jinder.

Cena and his bitch vs Miz and his- I'm not sure i can ever recall a PPV match that had such a great and funny build up yet the match was a complete waste of time.

Orton vs Wyatt- The match had weird props and the result makes little to no sense. I'm not sure why you have Bray lose the title at WM at all. Is Orton dying or something? Why is he getting another major run like this right now? I feel like this could have waited til Summerslam

Female Raw match- I think they missed a golden oppurtunity to put the belt on the beast Nia Jax. I thought for sure she would win. And why they would ruin the Charlotte PPV streak when they had every reason to avoid it, being that it was a fatal 4-way elimination match, i dont know. Cant figure that out at all.

Smackdown women's match- Dont care. Found it funny though that I remember Kelly Kelly saying she might have a role at WM.

Corbin vs Ambrose- I think if they had any idea what they wanted to do with Dean Ambrose going forward, they would have given the belt to Corbin, but they probably have no clue and the buildup to the match, though not for lack of trying, was pretty meh. And Corbin had to be the bitch again haha.

Neville vs Aries- Actually one of the best matches of the night. I still cant believe Aries escaped a serious injury when Neville suplexed him on the top of his head

Taker v Reigns/ Brock v Goldberg- I think the WWE really backed themselves into a corner here. These were basically the only two choices for a main even and on one hand you have a 52 year Taker who can barely do anything and a much hated babyface and on the other you have 2 guys, one of which they were probably positive he could only go about 4 minutes. And you dont want a 4 minute match as the Main Event. So what i took from this was that Taker went out and emptied the tank, or took one for the team. And it helps it's probably his retirement match too. But i feel less shitty about the bad ME match when I think Taker went out there as the ME because he was emptying the tank, because Goldeberg and Lesnar couldnt go more than 4 minutes.

Oh ya. The Tag match was fantastic and the Hardy Boys return was epic.

First ever WM without The Fink

Evil Vito 04-03-2017 01:08 AM

Next year is in New Orleans, the sight of Undertaker's biggest defeat.

If he specifically asks to not go into the HOF for a few years, Bryan is going to be next year's headliner.

Evil Vito 04-03-2017 01:13 AM

Reigns cut an in-character, squeaky clean babyface promo with Coach on ESPN after the show talking about how much he respects The Undertaker.

The outcomes of most of these matches were dogshit and WWE has literally just said "We're probably gonna troll all you hardcore fans with awfulness for the next decade until you completely lose hope in wrestling ever being good again..."

That being said, Goldberg vs Lesnar was fucking fantastic.

I read this, and for some reason immediately thought of Cornette's thoughts on Vince's "time honored tradition" promo. Maybe they'll come to the same conclusion and finally embrace him coming off like a hand-picked asshole and let him *be* a freakin' heel. He will become a babyface over time if they just let the character grow.

It worked for just about EVERY top superstar post-Hogan, except Warrior. And the problem persists an various ways within the company not only with Roman, but he is absolutely the most noticeable.

People want to take the ride with a character. He can be a shithead, and redeem himself later, and then go on to film movies, and sell shirts, and autograph babies and all that shit. But the company seems intent on skipping over the ride and having him at the destination as fast as possible since day one. From shoving the camera up his nose during Shield entrances and the booth spending most of the time putting HIM over during their matches, to feeding him "stars" that they barely built in the first place, to continuing his fast track even after being on the shelf while people didn't give a collective crap that he was gone. That's all stuff that isn't really Roman's fault.

Essentially, if they had just turned him heel in the first place instead of resisting, they would have prob'ly been able to prepare to start (if not already) reaping the benefits of a face turn by now, and Roman as a character would have been richer for it, and if they did it right, the fans would have been READY for a face turn.

Can you sum your posts up? I only looked through the thread for reactions to the Hardys and Mojo winning the battle royal.

Poit 04-03-2017 02:36 AM

Back to my hotel room from the stadium. My thoughts:

By sheer coincidence, I was sitting next to a nice gay couple from the UK. We were chatting all throughout the show and for a while afterwards. I made some new friends. :)

The crowd was overall great. Afterlife messaged me during the PPV, asking if the crowd had gotten dead. Maybe WWE was being overly aggressive in editing crowd reactions?

Neville/Aries was a great opener. Good way to get the crowd warmed up. Well, we were already dying in the heat. Different kind of warmed up.

The ARMBAR was good. No idea who that football guy was. I'm guessing one of Mojo's former teammates? Sami getting eliminated sucked, but it was nice, for once, to see the crowd's last chance pick to actually win.

Ambrose/Corbin... we kinda just didn't care much about this match. I wanted to care. I like Ambrose. I've liked Corbin recently. But this feud has just been nothing to me.

AJ/Shane was way better than I expected. Shane's offense looked significantly improved over last year.

Jericho/Owens was good, but I expected it to be. It didn't exceed my expectations. Jericho's entrance was cool.

Raw Women's Championship match was pretty good. Nice to see the <strike>Shield</strike> Horsewomen triple powerbomb. Kinda weird that everyone except Nia Jax got fireworks.

Holy shit the Hardys are back. That was amazing.

The mixed tag match seemed weirdly-paced. Miz got a ton of offense in, and then Cena & Nikki just win.

Rollins/Triple H was kinda meh. There should have been a good story here, but instead it was some crap like "you betrayed my by getting injured".

Wyatt/Orton bothered me. Like, Wyatt debuted the ability to manifest the form of Sister Abigail in the ring. And he still lost. What?

I expected to dislike Goldberg/Lesnar, but I didn't. Ending the suplex count at 10 was a nice touch for the crowd. Glad to see Goldberg lose the title.

Smackdown Women's Championship match was also good. The crowd wasn't too hot for it, since we were all waiting for the main event. The women still put on a good match, even though they didn't have a lot of time.

Undertaker/Reigns was kinda insane. The crowd booed literally every bit of Roman's offense. Even though Taker losing is a bug downer, I think it's probably good in the long run. Undertaker really needs to retire (and it seems he has). His legacy has been cemented for a long time. A Reigns victory gives the crowd even more to boo him for. Is he officially a heel yet?

#1-norm-fan 04-03-2017 02:36 AM

By the way, if Reigns beating Taker in the main event of a WrestleMania wasn't enough evidence of WWE just trolling the fans by pushing everything they hate down their throat.... Everyone actually fell in love with a Vince McMahon dream in Braun Strowman. It was great. So they put him in a battle royal, made him the clear favorite, and then eliminated him early and had the winner be a low-card guy whose only claim to fame is being hated within the IWC. COME ON....

Smiley face made it seem like you had a hot threesome. Would have made this whole thing worthwhile.

Poit 04-03-2017 02:43 AM

Oh, also - while walking back to my hotel after the PPV, some dudes in a car were blasting Bobby Roode's theme song, and I sang along with them while doing Roode poses. I think that was my second-favorite moment of the night (after the Hardys, of course).
