Think it's @FakeLaser

Damian Rey 2.0 03-19-2017 04:24 PM

Was at the USA game last night. Adam Jones robbed that homerun literally feet from my buds and I. Fucking amazing.

Droford 03-19-2017 11:29 PM

You weren't one of the people in the pic getting made fun of for their reaction?

Damian Rey 2.0 03-19-2017 11:30 PM

No thank God. I was outside that frame

Droford 03-20-2017 01:33 AM

Drew Pomeranz got shut down due to a triceps issue for the Red Sox

And people still think they're going to win the AL East

Damian Rey 2.0 03-20-2017 03:08 AM

Lol Pomeranz is at best their 4 starter. Losing him isn't as big of a deal. He was actually terrible for them so I'm reality it's prob a wash if they have to summon a replacent level arm to f fill his spot.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-20-2017 03:09 AM

Pablo Sandoval may not win the starting job. And people still think they're gonna win the East.

Droford 03-20-2017 02:45 PM

Tim Tebow is going to the Columbia Fireflies in the SAL which the Orioles Affiliate Delmarva Shorebirds are a part of and I live 5 min from the stadium. Might have to go to the only time they play them here May 10-12 if he's still hanging aroubd

Droford 03-20-2017 02:52 PM

Related note..they should have Bray Wyatt throw out a pitch

Damian Rey 2.0 03-20-2017 03:43 PM

Making my very first spring training trip this Thursday. Pretty excited, as I have family scattered throughout Arizona and plan on getting very, very drunk.

Evil Vito 03-20-2017 04:51 PM

I don't care about the actual spring training stats, but with guys coming off of injury I do care about how they appear to be physically.

Matt Harvey is hitting 91, 92 on his fastball and getting hammered as a result because his secondary stuff isn't at the level of a guy like deGrom who was still dominant early in the year last year even when his velocity took a while to come back.

The Mets have 7 legit MLB starters. They can't afford to give games away in a tough division just to keep Harvey happy. Put Gsellman and Lugo in the rotation and let Harvey stay in extended spring training until his velocity is at a point where he can thrive on the big stage. There's no point in having starting pitching depth if you aren't going to use it.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-20-2017 06:07 PM

Agree with Vito. You can gage health in spring training and a guy who is sitting 3 to 5 mph lower than his typical velocity is not a good sign. Keeping him in extended to build health is a good thing. Send him on some rehab starts while they're at it.

Evil Vito 03-20-2017 07:49 PM

Exactly. If Harvey's curve or change were good enough for him to overcome the lack of a fastball, it'd be fine to let him start the year. But they're not. And his slider never was the same after his TJS.

There's no shame in starting the year in extended spring with the rotation the Mets have. Wheeler's gonna stay back in extended too so he can pitch in controlled games as a way of limiting innings, and he seems 100% unlike Harvey. He probably won't be up until May and even then he may start in the pen just to let them stick to their plan of keeping him in the low 100s range for innings.

Syndergaard-deGrom-Matz-Gsellman-Lugo is still a damn fine rotation to open the year. They don't get a Wild Card berth without those last two. I really think Gsellman could be a legit ROTY candidate if he was in the bigs all year, and Lugo's been killing it in the WBC with the spin rate on his curveball.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-20-2017 08:00 PM

Gsellman is sneaky good.

YES Network returns to us Comcast customers on March 31st.

Just in time for opening day.

YOUR Hero 03-20-2017 10:13 PM

Hope the Jays are still a playoff team. I feel a regression might be coming. I hope not.

It all hinges on Morales and Stroman.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-21-2017 01:29 PM

Not even. No reason to think Stroman and their pitching staff won't keep them competitive. Morales will probably provide league average like offensive production.

The big problem right now in Toronto is left field. It is a giant hole and I don't think Melvin Upton is the answer.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-21-2017 01:30 PM

They're very good everywhere else, tough, and I think they'll be competitive at the worst.

Droford 03-21-2017 02:04 PM

Lol
Jays will barely be a .500 team

Evil Vito 03-21-2017 02:32 PM

I wonder what that last Droford post says?

Oh wait, no I don't because having him on ignore makes the MLB thread much more bearable.

yeah you can tell physical things that's for sure.

You need guys to be able to get their "shit in" house show styles.

Droford 03-21-2017 10:24 PM

Japan looks like the Yankees instantly want to hate them 100x more

Emperor Smeat 03-21-2017 10:55 PM

Blue Jays currently working on a deal to extend manager John Gibbons' contract for 2 more years with an option for a 3rd year. His current contract is set to expire after this season.

Droford 03-21-2017 11:29 PM

I was going to write a post about how John Gibbons is a terrible manager but it aint even worth it.

Ol Dirty Dastard 03-22-2017 08:45 AM

Yeah remember the time he trotted out Ubaldo Jimenez in extra innings to face the heart of the Jay's batting order when he had Zach Britton waiting in the bullp- oh wait.

Ol Dirty Dastard 03-22-2017 08:45 AM

But yeah I am actually not big on Gibby. 2 Alcs appearances means you should reep some benefits though.

Manny isn't going anywhere but they need to pay Schoop too

Damian Rey 2.0 03-22-2017 12:37 PM

He sure is going somewhere. But you keep telling yourself he isn't.

RP 03-22-2017 12:39 PM

Is someone on the Yankees wearing Machado's number right now?

Evil Vito 03-22-2017 01:21 PM

Nope, A-Rod's retired so #13 is available.

THE STARS ARE ALIGNING

Damian Rey 2.0 03-22-2017 03:22 PM

It's ok guys. Droford's plan of having Machado take a discount the first 3 years of his deal while Davis' contract withers away is bulletproof. And we all know Schoop is better than Kipnis.

Droford 03-22-2017 03:25 PM

Backloading contracts happens all the time.

And Schoop is better than Kipnis

BRUH. I live like 5 minutes from the Padres complex. Let's grab a beer at some point.

He really isn't, though. We've been over this.

Droford 03-22-2017 07:32 PM

Well considering Kipnis is out for a month and Schoop is healthy I guess Kipnis sure is better alright

Damian Rey 2.0 03-22-2017 08:03 PM

Lol Kipnis is still better. He's a better hitter, better fielder and better base runner. Schoop is better at making lots of outs so I guess that's where your argument is from.

And yes, contacts are back loaded, but not to the ridiculous extent you insinuated. Machado isn't going to take 15 mil a year for the first 3 years. That's absurd when he's probably gonna make 25 to 30 mil a year. You're thinking he'll take half that when somebody will happily pay it upfront if ridiculous.

I'd be down. I'll be there to catch I think the Padres angels game.
