Lol Seattle is really doing well down the stretch.

Jeter strikesout to end the ballgame lol
|
Nobody really recognized Jeter before 2 years ago. It's sad. ..

I will miss pasta diving Jeter..he was so close to that one last night |
Willie Randolph just caught a foul ball
|
Verlander's last two starts have been good, hope he's going to skullfuck some sluts during postseason
|
O's win. Kill any hopes of the Yankees getting a playoff spot today.
|
Mark Buehrle with a gem today
|
YANKEES ARE ELIMINATED! YANKEES LOSE! YANKEES LOSE! DAAAAAAAAAAH YANKEES LOSE!!!!!
:) Seattle is one loss/Oakland win to being done too. Indians are out with one Oakland win or a loss of their own. Looks like it's Kansas City and Oakland as the Play-in Game. |
The Giants are a win or a Brewers loss away from clinching a spot too, so all 10 playoff teams can be decided by the end of tomorrow. Still a busy weekend though as teams continue playing to determine division champs and seeding.

A Mets beat reporter tweeted that the Mets were on the verge of becoming the first NL team in 15 years to go an entire season without balking.
Literally 2 minutes later, the Mets had their first balk of the season. |
lmao wow

O's have 5 hits..4 hrs, including 2 in the top of the 9th down 5-2 to tie it..

Be hilarious if somebody else hit a walkoff instead of Jeter and then got booed rounding the bases.
|
Let's go
|
JETER!!!!!!!

I was yelling at the TV "walk him" and they didn't. :(

I don't see how Jeter plays in the final series now. He might have played if his last moment in this game wasn't good. But after that? No chance.

That could've been the new curse

I assume he's going to play in the last one at least since it will have the big tribute planned for him. They did the same last year for Riveria's final game at Fenway. |
He said he's played his last game at SS. So probably a couple games at DH against Boston.
Cool way to end it even if the game didn't matter. |
hopefully some Boston pitcher grooves one to him for a homer so I don't have to relive this as much as the fucking Jeffrey Maier assisted homer.

Lol Yankees paying the orioles for that walk-off hit
|
Jeter kinda looks like Putin a bit doesn't he
|
Would love if ARod talked Jeter into posing topless on a horse (because you know that's something ARod has or would do) so we could compare apples to apples
|
Do you ever read the Jeter diary on Grantland? The A-Rod stuff is great
|
Stop disrespecting A-ROD

Royals are 1gb of the tigers for the right to play the Orioles in the ALDS..but n the bright side they clinched at least a wildcard. party like its 1985
|
They shouldn't consider the play-in game the playoffs. That cheapens what being a playoff team means.

SI (specifically Tom Verducci) said this was the best young crop of SS's ever in 1997. 2.25 out of 5 (the .25 cause Renteria had a hit that won a world series, but still..) |

Paul Konerko put together a video to thank the White Sox fans. Selfish jerk trying to take away attention from Jeter's send-off. |

NFL is about to be 14 out of 32
NHL is 16 out of 30 NBA is 16 out of 29 10 out of 30 is pretty fair |
isn't there 30 teams in the NBA, Droford? :wtf:
|
Joke about ________notable laughably bad nba franchise________ not officially being recognized as an NBA team
|
as if (insert bad team here) counts
|
speaking of the other leagues, the Blue Jays now have the longest playoff drought of teams in all 4 leagues going back to 1992.

Honestly, why do you feel the need to cramp a feel good story? How does that benefit you at all? |
Angels just wrangled out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam in the bottom of the 9th. Mariners need to win to stay alive.
|
Brad Miller fucks up and doesn't run home from second on a hit to center. Austin Jackson bails him out by nearly grounding into a double play but barely legging it out at first.
King Felix with a meaningful start in Game 162. |
There could be as many as three Game 163s on Monday to decide the NL Central, AL Central, and AL 2nd Wild Card.
|
Royals Pirates and Mariners have to win
Tigers Cardinals and A's have to lose As an o's fan I'm rooting for Tigers/Royals 163 since it means the winner would have to burn a starting pitcher that would otherwise likely get 2 starts unless they don't start a top pitcher. Plus they won't get the extra rest or prep time for game 1 on Thursday. |
Quote:
1995 was the first Wild Card season. Royals can still win the Central. |

To decide division winner and wildcard, yes

the eliminator
actually, they should just make the teams do the eliminator. |

Looks like this season is going to end with 0 full games watched on TV by me.. 2 games attended and watched.. we'll see what happens in the playoffs.. over/under for that is a surprising 5.5
|

When I first heard about it, I was skeptical. But it gives us a chance to see more meaningful games.
|
In case you missed it, D-Backs hire Dave Stewart as their new GM and Senior Vice President. They also fired manager Kirk Gibson and bench coach Alan Trammell.
Jesus, that organization is a mess. |
Nice moment from the Mets. Allowed Bobby Abreu to get the start in his final day as a big leaguer and then pulled him after a hit and received a standing O. He killed the Mets for years as a member of the Phillies, but gotta appreciate a great career.

Dave Duncan, manager Mark McGwire, hitting coach Jose Canseco, 3rd base/outfield positioning coach |
Jordan Zimmermann closes out the season with a no-hitter against the Marlins, who threw a no-no to end last season.
|
2013: Marlins throw no-hitter to end the year
2014: Nationals throw no-hitter against Marlins to end the year 2015: Mets vs. Nationals final day :) |
watched approx 4 innings of jordan zimmermann's no hitter
|
Mets finish 79-83 and in 2nd place. You know what, as unbelievably frustrating as they were in May and June when they tanked away their playoff hopes early, they showed a lot of fight in the second half. Overall, a lot more good than bad has come out of this season.
|
:-\ Red Sox lost the final game of the season. Miserable season but at least record-wise it wasn't 2012 bad.
|
I'm probably going to game 1 of the ALDS Thursday. spend some of my gambling winnings this year on an overpriced nosebleed seat on stub hub..yay
|
Totally worth it, though.
|
A's break it open in the top of the 9th, looks like there will be no Game 163 :(

Yankees hang tight and grab 2nd place in the AL East. Just get above .500.
Better season than last year. Injuries were way down, but the pitching staff exploded. Kuroda being the only stalwart throughout the entire season. |
Stupid Red Sox fans giving Jeter standing ovation when he left the game, made my dust allergy flare up
|
http://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/jgUf...4/scrote.0.png
josh reddick is a bit to excited for clinching a wild card after the team just tanked the last 2 1/2 months. |
Twins fire Ron Gardenhire. Going to be weird to see a new manager in Minnesota.
|
Astros hire A.J. Hinch to be their new manager.
|
Ron Gardenhire can come manage the DBacks any time. Also, there is no worse choice for major league manager than AJ Hinch. Houston will remain hilariously bad.
|
Dammit. Game 2 Tigers @ Orioles is at noon on Friday. Why do you do this to me, baseball gods.
|
Day games during the week for the playoffs seems really stupid.
|
Might come in early and take a long lunch to catch most of the game at a bar
|
Elimination games are our "thing." Hopefully that carries over from 2012.
|
Go team that is in close proximity to where I live.

I know, I know...this is the post-season now and nothing in the regular season matters anymore, but if the Tigers and O’s regular seasons were any indication at all of how their A.L.D.S. encounter might turn out, I’m worried for Detroit. |
Need a team to root for this postseason. But which one???
|
Detroit Baseball Tigers #1

Guess that could be teams. Can't imagine traffic in this area with all world series games here though, would be so awful.
